The City of West Jordan has adopted a new program designed to supplement our uniform patrol division and reduce the number of non-emergency calls that our certified officers respond to each year. By implementing the Community Service Officer (CSO) program, it will alleviate the number of non-emergency calls that our uniformed officers respond to, allowing them to focus on the higher priority calls and freeing them up for more proactive patrol in our community. Community service officers are non-sworn officers and have no arrest authority. However, they are uniformed and are issued patrol vehicles that are clearly marked as CSO vehicles. Their main duties include telephonic reports that do not require a certified officer, reports that do not require suspect contact, traffic control at accident scenes, found property reports, collection of found bicycles, property checks, and extra patrols. The community service officers work full-time and occupy three of the community oriented policing offices in the city. The COP offices are located at: Salt Lake Community College, Jordan Valley Hospital, Smith's, Smith's Marketplace and Jordan Landing. | | | Jordan Landing COP Office 3763 W.
