The Purchasing Division is responsible for issuing purchase orders and contracts for supplies, services, equipment, and construction projects for the City of West Jordan. Through a competitive bidding process, cost-savings are achieved for the City. The division works closely with the City Recorder's office to provide public notices and advertising of procurement activities and bid opportunities, as well as to keep accurate records of these activities. The division works hard to safeguard against prohibited and non-compliant purchasing activities.
The purchasing agent works with all departments in the City, assisting personnel with writing procurement proposals, detailing specifications for purchase requests, and properly disposing of surplus equipment. The Purchasing Division is also responsible for providing updated procurement policies and training city personnel on purchasing procedures.
